Home Telecom announces new COO
Anthony Douglas has been named the new chief operating officer of Moncks Corner-based Home Telecom.
In a statement, Home Telecom said Douglas comes to the company from Comcast in Atlanta where he has been vice president of the Big South (Central) Region for the past five years. He has also been senior director of Technical Operations for Comcast in Charleston, Augusta and Savannah, Ga. for seven years. Douglas has a business management degree from the University of Phoenix.
“Not only is Anthony proficient in integrating streamlined day-to-day Telecom business operations, but he is a leadership and team development expert, with a steep background in organizational performance, project management with a focus on change management, and in cultivating leadership talent,” said Home Telecom CEO William Helmly.
Douglas has more than 20 years of leadership experience with his Charleston connections beginning in 2006. However, his familiarity with the telecommunications industry dates to 1992, when he began his career as a technician.
Job search workshops
If you are looking for a fresh career start in 2022, Dorchester Economic Development has announced SC Trident Works free virtual workshops. On Dec. 10, there will be a workshop on job searching and resumes. On Dec. 17, there will be a second workshop on job searching and interviewing.

Event on workplace strategies
The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce has announced an event called Strategies on Developing and Enhancing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in the Workplace.
The event will be held virtually on Dec. 14 beginning at 10 a.m. The chamber said goal is to help business managers with diversity, equity and inclusion.
Chamber leaders said for several years, members have been inquiring about developing and enhancing DEI programs to grow and strengthen their businesses. The virtual event will include a strategy session, where visitors will share their company’s objectives, goals and strategies related to DEI. However, it is fine if the company is in the developmental stages with such initiatives, chamber representatives said.
The guest speaker will be Glenda Levine, the chief diversity officer with the Berkeley County School District.
